Degree document

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a similar field from an approved university with at least 180 ECTS. It is anticipated that the candidate will have completed courses in computer science (including programming, algorithms, and data structures), fundamental computer architecture, computer networks, software engineering, and mathematics.

Students will be conditionally admitted if proof of qualification is not available at the time of application. To complete the admissions process, they must submit the necessary degree certificate, academic record transcript, and translations by July 31st, 2026, at 15:00 (Helsinki time). An official declaration from the higher education institution stating the anticipated graduation date and the courses that are missing should also be attached by the candidates.

2. Requirements for language.

Every applicant must be fluent in English. The ability to communicate in English must be demonstrated by

Åbo Akademi University’s TOEFL reporting code is 9880. If at all possible, select Åbo Akademi University to receive and validate your IELTS results. At least 14 days following the conclusion of the application period, the test results must be valid and verified by the test organizer. The majority of test results have a two-year validity period. First exemption criterion:

Applicants who completed their secondary education in English or who earned a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a university or university-level institution in one of the following countries with English as the language of instruction (as stated in the diploma) are exempt from taking the English language test:

Note that the degree program must be finished in one of the aforementioned nations, and the degree certificate must state English as the language of instruction to be exempt from providing an English language test score. Even if the degree would be awarded by a university in one of the aforementioned nations, degrees earned via distance learning or studies on an offshore campus are not acceptable.

• Additionally, applicants who are now enrolled as degree students at any of the EDISS partner universities (“bo Akademi University, University of the Balearic Islands, University of L’Aquila, or Mälardalen University) are exempt from the English language test.
• Candidates from EDISS partner universities must provide a certificate from their institution attesting to a B2 English proficiency level with their applications. An interview may be scheduled for candidates from EDISS partner universities to evaluate their English proficiency.
